Weekly Message, January 22-27
It was another full week at Harold Panabaker this week. All of the volleyball teams have been finalized and are excited to start playing together soon. Last night we welcomed our prospective grade five students in the Mandarin program for a school tour and program information evening. As we approach the end of the second semester, we are grateful to all of the hard work of our teachers in finalizing student grades and working on report cards.
Staffing Update
We are very excited to announce that we have received additional funding to reflect our increased enrollment after September 30. With this additional funding, we are now able to increase Ms. Chalmer’s time to full time assignment. This allows us to provide increased, targeted literacy support.
School Council update
Save the Date - Volunteers are needed for our Casino Fundraiser March 11 and 12.
School Casinos are the most significant source of revenue for the School Council. School Council uses funds from Casinos to support student learning and extra curricular activities. This may look like learning materials, such as books for the library, equipment and materials for our science labs, or new machinery in our construction, design, and food options. School council supports school experiences by contributing funds to subsidize field trips and the grade nine farewell. This is a very important fundraiser for the school community, which benefits all students.
If you are able to volunteer, please consider doing so. You do not need to have a valid police check and a meal is provided by the Casino. All training is provided during your shift. Volunteers are essential to making this event a success. Please see the sign-up link below.

High School Tours and Paperwork
Next week is the first round of high school tours for our students designated to Centennial High School. We will be going to Henry Wise Wood and Dr. E. P. Scarlett in the following week. This year, students are only permitted to go to the tour for their designated high schools. If you have a student in grade nine, you will be receiving regular emails with respect to high school registration processes. Every high school has a unique registration process. If you have questions along the way, please do not hesitate to reach out to Ms. Roach for support.
