Week of January 29-February 2
Staffing Update
We are very pleased to announce a staffing addition. Due to additional funding based on new enrolment, we have hired Ms. Alexia Chalmers as a full-time teacher from her current part-time position. Ms. Chalmers will be teaching Social Studies and English to the 7-2 homeroom. Ms. Chalmers has a strong humanities background and a true passion for reading and learning.
This staffing change will allow Ms. Kerry Dickson to focus on supporting students throughout the school with literacy and English Language acquisition. Ms. Dickson has a very strong resource background. She will support students throughout our school community to build their language and learning skills.
School Council Update
Save the Date - Volunteers are needed for our Casino Fundraiser March 11 and 12.
School Casinos are the most significant source of revenue for the School Council. School Council uses funds from Casinos to support student learning and extracurricular activities. This may look like learning materials, such as laptops for the students, books for the library, equipment and materials for our science labs, or new machinery in our construction, design, and food options. School council supports school experiences by contributing funds to subsidize field trips and the grade nine farewell. This is a very important fundraiser for the school community, which benefits all students.
If you are able to volunteer, please consider doing so. You do not need to have a valid police check for the positions to be filled and a meal is provided by the Casino. All training is provided during your shift. Volunteers are essential to making this event a success. Please see the sign-up link below.

High School Tours
On Monday, students designated to Dr. EP Scarlett and Henry Wise Wood will be going to tour their high schools. We would like to remind all students attending the Dr. E.P. Scarlett tour that they will need to pack a lunch. Students attending the Henry Wise Wood tour are reminded that we are leaving at 9:20am. Please report directly to the library for attendance when you arrive at school. High school tours are always a very exciting time for students and an opportunity to imagine their next steps. We look forward to the conversations following the tours.
