Week of February 5-9
Dear Families,
This week was a busy and exciting time. Our grade six students visited the Police Interpretive Center to connect with their science outcomes. Grade nine students, meanwhile, were working on their next steps at high school tours at Dr. E.P. Scarlett and Henry Wise Wood. Grade nines also had their immunization this week. For students who missed the session, a catch-up session will be arranged. We will inform you of the timing once we receive the details from AHS. The volleyball teams played their first regular season games and worked hard together.
School Council Update
Save the Date - Volunteers are needed for our Casino Fundraiser March 11 and 12.
School Casinos are the most significant source of revenue for the School Council. School Council uses funds from Casinos to support student learning and extracurricular activities. This may look like learning materials, such as laptops for the students, books for the library, equipment and materials for our science labs, or new machinery in our construction, design, and food options. School council supports school experiences by contributing funds to subsidize field trips and the grade nine farewell. This is a very important fundraiser for the school community, which benefits all students.
If you are able to volunteer, please consider doing so. You do not need to have a valid police check for the positions to be filled and a meal is provided by the Casino. All training is provided during your shift. Volunteers are essential to making this event a success. Please see the sign-up link below.

Chinese New Year – Year of the Dragon
Next week on February 8th , from 6:30-8:00, students in our Mandarin program will be presenting their Chinese New Year Assembly. We are collaborating with Midnapore school to bring this wonderful event to our community. The band will also perform. The evening show has a limited number of tickets, which will be sent to students who are performing and their families. Parents of band students, please refer to Mr. Michalak’s email that was sent to band students last week. Other guests are welcome to attend the afternoon show, beginning at 2:14 p.m. in the gym. All students will watch the performances at that time. Thank you to all of the students and teachers for their hard work in making this event possible.
Child and Youth Well Being Sessions
We invite all parents and guardians to join us in an online series focusing on child and youth well-being. These sessions will be hosted in partnership with experts from Alberta Health Services and will explore topics such as vaping, brain development, mental health, and sexual health.
