Week of December 11-15

Science Olympics

What are the Science Olympics: A chance to collaborate in teams to solve challenges presented to you on the spot about geoscience and engineering.

When & Where: Saturday, May 26th 1-6pm at the Olympic Oval, University of Calgary (you must have your own transportation to and from)

Cost: $18 per person

Commitment: Although challenges take place at the event, there will be a resource package to work through with your team. You will meet weekly at lunch to work on the content materials and will work in your own time.

Who should participate? You are passionate about science and problem solving, collaborative and responsible. You will commit to the weekly meetings, working on your own time and commit to being at the event.

How many teams? Teams will consist of 5 students: one team from grade 7, grade 8 and grade 9

If you are interested, you must attend the information session in room 9 on Wednesday December 13th at 1:00pm. If you are away that day you must follow up with Ms. Ray. Depending upon interest, a recommendation and lottery system may be used to select teams.

Weather Reminders

With the fresh snowfall, we want to remind everyone to ensure that their students are dressed for the weather. Delays can occur when traffic is impacted by the snow.

If your student rides the school bus, please consider downloading the MyBusStop app. Parents can download the MyBusStop app on mobile devices and track their bus in real time. The code for our school is CBEITW7M53. More information can be accessed through MyCBE Account.  A link to get started is available here: https://cbe.ab.ca/schools/busing-and-transportation/Documents/MyBusStop-App-Quick-Start-Guide.pdf
