Science Olympics
What are the Science Olympics: A chance to collaborate in teams to solve challenges presented to you on the spot about science and engineering. Last year grade 7,8 and 9 students had to design an autonomous or remote-control prototype vehicle that could plant five seeds in holders.
Grade 5-6 students had to design a home that could collect as much rain water as possible.
When & Where: Saturday, May 23rd , typically 8:00am-1:00pm for Div II and 1:00pm-6:00pm for Div III
Cost: $25-$35 per person
Commitment: Although challenges take place at the event, there will be a resource package to work through with your team. You will be required to meet once a week at lunch to work on the content materials and will need to also work during your own time.
Who should participate? You are passionate about science and problem solving, collaborative and responsible. You will commit to the weekly meetings, working on your own time and to being at the event.
How many teams? Teams will consist of 5 students – number of teams and cost per student will depend on interest.
If you are interested you must attend the information session in room 9 on Monday, December 8th at 12:40pm. Information about each challenge will be shared. If you are away that day you must follow up with Ms. Ray.
**Two teams per division will be registered. If there is greater interest, teams will be required to complete the challenge and compete for a spot prior to the event.

Students are unable to participate in this portion of the curriculum unless consent is explicitly granted.
