Harold Panabaker students will be attending a Remembrance Day Observance on Thursday, November 7th. The grade 7 and 8 classes will attend at 9:45 and the grades 5, 6, and 9 classes will attend at 11:00. Students who are involved with Cadets, Scouts, or Guides are encouraged to wear their uniforms. Parents and community members are welcome to attend either assembly as well. If you serve in the military or are a member of the police, paramedics, or firefighters and wish to lay a wreath, please contact Robyn Easton at rleaston@cbe.ab.ca.

If families are able, please send a monetary donation for the Veterans’ poppy fund on Thursday.

Child and Youth Well-Being, Family & Caregiver Fall Series

The Calgary Board of Education invites all parents and guardians to join us in a pre-recorded and live online series focusing on child and youth well-being. These sessions will be hosted in partnership with experts from Alberta Health Serivces and Recovery Alberta and will explore topics such as Peer Pressure, Healthy Relationships, Mental Health for Highly-Sensitive Teens, and navigating Parent-Teen relationships.

For dates and further details, please see the information sheet here.

Chinese Language Support Line

On April 12, 2021, ECSSEN Career School launched the Chinese Emotional Support Hotline to provide free emotional support, crisis intervention and resource information/referral in the Chinese language. This is the first service in Canada that provides 24/7 support to Chinese callers.

The hotline is staffed by over 100 Chinese speaking volunteers. All volunteers & staff have received culturally tailored extensive training in supportive listening, crisis and mental health topics including suicide, family violence, child protection, crisis response and community resources.

Our hotline offers immediate short-term emotional support. We also offer peer support groups and webinars which help our community members better their mental health in the long term. We empower our callers to improve their ability to deal with daily stressors by working collaboratively with them to explore coping strategies and come up with action plans. You can access the hotline by calling 584-997-5977.
