Parent-Teacher Conferences
School conferences will be on Thursday, November 28 in-person from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Friday, November 29 online from 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Parents and Guardians will be able to book appointments online using the Conferences App in their MyCBE account. Bookings will be available beginning on Saturday, November 23.
Basketball Update
Good luck to all Panthers teams in their playoff games starting this week!
Parents/guardians please touch base with your coach regarding practice and game times, should your team advance throughout playoffs.
A reminder that students wishing to watch the games on Tuesday evening at Panabaker, need to be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Please be respectful of the competition and refrain from making noise during free throws or timeouts, etc.
PE Update
A reminder for PE: with winter weather now upon us, students are reminded that proper footwear is required for PE class. Please store your winter boots/footwear in your locker and not outside the gym when you come to class.
Colder Weather
As the weather becomes colder, please make sure that your child has the appropriate gear for being outdoors for extended periods of time. CBE guidelines have indoor recess at –21 degrees. Students will potentially go outside for lunch, PE classes, and other class activities when it is warmer than that, so please ensure that they are prepared. If you require support for winter gear, please contact us for help.
My Bus Stop App
Buses have been late due to snowy weather. Please make sure that you have installed the My Bus Stop App to check for delays. You can access the app here: https://www.mybusstop.ca/ The code is available on your MyCBE account on the transportation tab.
Science Olympics
What are the Science Olympics: A chance to collaborate in teams to solve challenges presented to you on the spot about science and engineering. Last year students had to design an autonomous or remote-controlled prototype vehicle that could drive on land and in water (simulating a wetland).
When & Where: Saturday, May 24th 1-6pm at Winsport Event Centre (you must have your own transportation to and from)
Cost: $25-$30 per person
Commitment: Although challenges take place at the event, there will be a resource package to work through with your team. We will meet weekly at lunch to work on the content materials and some of the work will be done outside of school hours.
Who should participate? You are passionate about science and problem solving, collaborative and responsible. You will commit to the weekly meetings, working on your own time and to being at the event.
How many teams? Teams will consist of 5 students – number of teams and cost per student will depend on interest.
If you are interested you must attend the information session in room 9 on Monday, November 25th at 1:00pm. If you are away that day you must follow up with Ms. Ray. Depending upon interest, a recommendation and lottery system may be used to select teams.
