Dear Families, 

As one chapter closes, another begins. The summer stretches before us, and we look ahead to next year. Reflecting on the school year, I wanted to thank everyone. These last few weeks have been fast-paced and exciting. Between field trips, exams, farewell, awards, and activity days, there have been so many wonderful opportunities to make memories and build community. We wish everyone a restful and fun summer, with opportunities to recharge and connect with each other.

To our staff, thank you for your support, enthusiasm, kindness, dedication and professionalism throughout the school year. You have gone above and beyond in planning exciting learning and co-curricular activities, coaching and providing club opportunities, connecting with families and showing up for students every day. Your efforts are evident in the growth of our school community and the successes we have seen throughout the year.  

To our families, thank you for your trust, support, collaboration and kindness. We appreciate your efforts in communicating with the school, helping your children with their learning, and sharing in this journey together. Thank you for being partners in learning and for sending us such wonderful children to work with.  

To our students, thank you for a great year. You have shown up for yourselves and for each other. Seeing you grow and learn together fills our hearts with pride. So do the acts of kindness we see towards each other and the sense of community we feel. From shared humour, to cheering for each other at athletics and talent shows, to helping each other with homework, or taking on projects to help build community within the school, you have shown us all what it means to be a Panther. We are very proud of your contributions to the school community. Have a wonderful summer. 

Farewells 

Every year brings new changes in students and staff. This year, we have been privileged to work with a wonderful team of teachers and support staff. We were supported by two temporary teachers, Ms. Tam and Ms. Ross who covered for staff on leave this year. We are so grateful for their help and support and we hope that we will see them again in the fall. Ms. Naurin, one of the Education Assistants, will be moving to another school in the fall. Her consistent care and kindness will be missed. Mrs. Easton is retiring from CBE. We know that she will enjoy her next adventures, read amazing books, and travel to wonderful places. We will miss her humour, her encouragement of students, and her dedication to our community.  

Welcome 

This year we are welcoming three new teachers to our team. Ms. Dianna Pitei joined us in May on a temporary contract supporting student literacy. We are delighted to have her join us in the fall working with our grades seven and eight humanities classes. We are also excited for Mr. Daniel Welsch to join our math and science team and for Ms. Chelsea Haddad to join our humanities team.  

Report Cards 

Report cards are live in MyCBE as of June 25. Families will have access to view and download their children’s current report cards until July 31.  

Important Notes for Next Year 

Please visit our website: Back to School - Harold Panabaker School for information about school supplies, office hours, and back to school.  

Due to some additional staffing, we are adding an office in place of the storage room. This impacts students who ride scooters to school, as we will no longer have an indoor space. If you are sending your child to school with a scooter that is too big for their locker, please ensure that they have an appropriate lock to use on the bike racks outside. 

The first day of school is Monday, August 31. In preparation for the upcoming school year, the office will open on Wednesday, August 26. Office hours before August 31 are from 9:00-4:00.  

Our School Hours are Monday to Thursday 9:15AM -3:50PM with lunch from 12:39PM-1:16PM; Fridays 9:15AM-1:10PM.  

To all of our students moving on to new schools, we wish you all the best in your next steps. For our returning Panthers, we look forward to seeing you again in the fall. From all of us at Harold Panabaker, have a wonderful summer.
